The Gaming Giant Recruits Popular Battle Royale Producer to Revitalize Challenged Action Game Project Ethos

2K Games has welcomed Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the development team at their internal studio, which is currently working on the anticipated third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.

Management Transition Comes After Lukewarm Feedback

Brinkman takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's underwhelming early showing last fall.

On Wednesday, 2K president a key figure updated employees about this decision through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had revealed the requirement for a more defined vision.

The president expressed that the developers is now refining the project with a renewed approach, aiming to satisfy community desires.

A Pattern of Key Acquisitions

The news echoes a comparable action taken by the publisher in August, when they hired Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock development group.

Below is the complete text from the president's memo:

Team—

I know you all just completed your gathering - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the good news. Previously I sent you all a message, I expressed the following: “I believe in this team. You all are some of the most motivated and talented creators we have had the chance to work with - and we’re eager for that relationship to continue.”

Through your commitment and versatility, especially over the last year, you consistently demonstrate that.

The gamer responses from last autumn’s Project ETHOS testing phase was informative. It affirmed the potential of a action-packed game but made clear we still had work to do. It revealed the need for a clearer brand.

It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve come. You accepted the criticism to consideration and overhauled the title with a revitalized vision - one that’s positioned to deliver on its potential to our players.

Our confidence in this project increases every day. To advance the incredible progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce the new hire as the new Director of the team. Following a period of conversations, Ben officially joins us on the specified date.

His guidance and expertise in the PVP shooter space is extensive, having devoted the recent years creating and managing some of the most recognizable franchises in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, Apex Legends.

Please join me in receiving him in the coming days. We are all looking forward to persist seeing the evolution of the game in the time to come.

David
